On Tuesday the Year 6 children who study Spanish went to the BFI for a Spanish film educational study day. In the morning they carried out a variety of activities based on a number of short films, including story boards, role plays, re-telling the story in Spanish and translating phrases from the films. It was an excellent way to engage the children and teach them a variety of new vocabulary in an interesting way. After lunch, they then were immersed in a full length Spanish film called ‘Carlito’ about a young orphan who dreamed of being a famous football player. The film was in Spanish and had subtitles, which helped the children to follow along, whilst trying to follow the gist of the story in Spanish. They loved the film, all cheering at the end when the boy achieved his dream!
