What is EYFS and why is it important?

EYFS stands for Early Years Foundation Stage that sets the standards of development, care and learning of children from birth to 5 years of age. All schools and Ofsted-registered must comply with EFYS. EYFS only applies to schools and early years provided in England.

In the nursery, we embody EYFS learning to support a unified approach to early learning and care. This ensures that your child receives quality education and childcare experiences. Parents can have the confidence by sending their children to our nursery as we abide to the same statutory commitments and principles that will underpin their child’s learning and development experience.

Areas of learning:

  • Communication and language
  • Physical development
  • Personal, social and emotional development
  • Literacy
  • Mathematics
  • Understanding the world
  • Expressive arts and design

This will mostly be through play and games, this allows the children to become more rounded as individuals and get a good-start for school education.

If you want any more information on EYFS education, there is a lot of information available to you, check out the Department for Education PDF for a full breakdown.
