In science this half term, Year 6 are learning about growth and nutrition in green plants. To support this topic, we visited Kew Gardens last week, where we took part in a ‘Plant Scientists’ workshop. During the workshop, the pupils completed a range of investigative activities, including dissecting flowers in order to identify their different parts, identifying and noting the characteristics of flowers in the gardens and closely observing plants under a microscope. We also had time to walk amongst the birds on the Treetop Walkway and visit some of Kew’s awesome exhibits, such as the tropical greenhouses and The Hive. It was a marvellous day out and we were all shattered after all that walking!
